Von Duprin Exit Devices & Panic Bars | Building Supply BFF

Von Duprin is the industry standard for commercial exit devices and panic bars. Building Supply BFF carries the full Von Duprin exit device lineup — all Grade 1 rated to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 (2014) — including rim exit, surface vertical rod, and concealed vertical rod configurations, in standard and heavy duty, with fire-rated variants available across the range.

Rim Exit Devices Rim exit devices mount directly to the face of the door and are the most common configuration for single doors and double doors with a center mullion. They are well-suited for stairwells and interior exits. Our Von Duprin rim exit selection includes the 22 Series, a cost-effective solution for medium to low traffic applications, and the 98/99 Series, a heavy-duty option for high-traffic and institutional use. Fire-rated versions are available in both series. The 22L-06 with classroom function lever is stocked for applications requiring keyed outside entry — the standard choice for schools and similar facilities.

Surface Vertical Rod Exit Devices Surface vertical rod devices are used on single doors or pairs of doors where rods run along the face of the door and latch into the floor and top frame. On door pairs, this eliminates the need for a center mullion — the rods provide the multi-point latching that a mullion would otherwise enable for rim devices. The 2227 Series covers standard duty and fire-rated applications. The 9927 Series handles high-traffic and institutional applications, with fire-rated variants available. Note: confirm with your installer whether SVR or CVR is appropriate for your specific opening configuration.

Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Devices Concealed vertical rod devices work on the same principle as surface vertical rod — latching to the floor and top frame via rods — but with the rods hidden inside the door for a clean aesthetic. The 9947 Series is our heavy duty option for metal doors, suited for aluminum storefront pairs and institutional settings where a clean appearance matters. Fire-rated versions are available. For wood door applications, contact us — the 9947WDC variant covers that configuration.
